Aizawl : Health Minister Lal Thanzara inaugurated Jan Aushadhi Store (Generic Drug Store) near Health Directorate Office, Dinthar locality on Saturday. The new store at Dinthar locality will be selling medicine at a cheaper than those usual medical store in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Lal Thanzara said that it is delightful to have a drug store that aimed at improving health in the state at an economical rate.
He also said that initiative to open Generic Drug Store in every district hospitals are underway. He also stated that the government is taking every initiative to ensure a better public health. Meanwhile he stated that even bigger and rich state’s doctors cannot follow the norms laid down for them on how many patients per doctor, it is more difficult in a state like Mizoram to follow the norms.
He also highlighted the recruitment of 26 doctors in the state and further stated that the list of these doctors transfer and posting hospital was publicized on Friday. Health Minister also highlighted the importance of exercising the body, health food and controlling oneself from tobacco products and further urged the inaugural function attendees to follow the mentioned health routine.
According to an official, in Jan Aushadhi Store (JAS), the price of medicine is thrice cheaper than in a usual drug store.
The price of medicines in this store is divided into three category (A, B, C) based on their price – Category A comprises of those medicine, in category B those medicine with lower price but costlier than C, while category C medicines are of those at an affordable prices.
An official also stated that there is hardly a medicine that crosses category B prices in Jan Aushadhi Store (JAS). An official also stated that Jan Aushadhi/Generic medicines are a board certified medicines tested by National Accreditation Board of Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).
