Kangpokpi, June 18: The body of Lalcha Sitlhou, 35, who was swept away by Guun Dung River on June 13 last, was finally recovered today in Heingang River.
After hearing the news about the recovery of a dead body in Heingang River, the family members and members of local clubs rushed to the spot and identified the body.
The body was rushed to JNIMS Hospital for post-mortem. Later, the family and leaders of local clubs brought back the body to his native village for the last rites.
Many people, including leaders of several social organisations, from Kangpokpi received the body while his children welcomed their father’s body by holding a placard that read “Happy Father’s Day.”.
The family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the villagers for their helping hand that led to the recovery of the body.
Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi president Seimang Khongsai expressed gratitude to the leaders of social organisations and the villagers.
Pastor Lamsieh Sitlhou KCBC had a prayer for the bereaved family following which the body was brought to Khaochangbung village for burial.
